Visas for Montenegro

Visas to Montenegro are issued with approval from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Montenegro. For information about visas and the visa regime of Montenegro, please use the following link: https://www.gov.me/en/mvp/consular-affairs

Australian or New Zealand passport holders do not need a visa to enter Montenegro and short stay up to 90 days. If you do not have an AUS/NZ passport, please check HERE to see if visa is required.

Note: Holders of valid foreign passports who hold a valid Schengen visa, valid visa of Australia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Japan, Canada, New Zealand, Ireland, Romania, USA, Great Britain and Northern Ireland, may enter, transit and stay in Montenegro for up to 30 days, but no longer than the expiration of that visa if the visa validity is less than 30 days.

Holders of valid foreign passports who hold a residence permit in the Schengen area, Australia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Japan, Canada, New Zealand, Ireland, Romania, USA, Great Britain and Northern Ireland business travel cards issued by the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) member states, may enter, transit and stay in Montenegro for up to 30 days, but no longer than the expiration of the residence permit or business travel card, if their validity is less than 30 days.

Visa applications can be lodged The Consulate General of the Republic of Serbia:

in person at: 12 Trelawney Street, Woollahra NSW 2025,

or by mail at: P.O. Box 190, Edgecliff NSW 2027.

General visa requirements:

  1. Completed application form (see link above)
  2. Valid passport (valid at least 6 months from the date of first entry into Montenegro);
  3. Letter of invitation (private, business or travel agent/hotel booking confirmation);
  4. Photo (size 3.5x4.5cm);
  5. Return ticket or Itinerary;
  6. Approved Visa, grant letter for AUS/NZ;
  7. Proof of sufficient funds for staying in Montenegro;
  8. Health insurance;
  9. Visa application fee $ 190.00 AUD.

Visa application fee is $190.00, payable by cash if lodging in person at the Consulate, or by bank cheque or money order if lodging by mail, payable to the "Consulate General of the Republic of Serbia".

For lodgement in person, an appointment is required, by booking on-line in the e-CONSULATE.

For Visa processing time allow a minimum of two months as all visa applications are assessed and approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration in Montenegro. For further information, please visit the Ministry website:
