Military Service

Compulsory Military Service in Serbia was abolished on 15 December 2010. Serbian nationals living abroad however are still required to register into military records kept by diplomatic and consular missions when they turn 18 years of age, and be listed in the reserve forces. Registering into military records kept by the Consulate means that the Serbian national has met their military service obligations.

Military service in the Serbian Armed Forces is done on a voluntary basis. An interested Serbian national residing abroad may submit an application for voluntary military service under arms at the nearest diplomatic consular mission of the Republic of Serbia.

For detailed information on military service reporting obligations, please visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of R. Serbia website under Military Service.

For application forms, please contact the  Consulate General by email.

If attending in person, an appointment is required, by booking on-line in the e-CONSULATE.
