Military Service

 


According to Article 64, paragraph 1 and 2 of the Law on Military, Labor and Material Obligation of the Republic of Serbia, it is prescribed that a citizen of Serbia who has a permanent place of residence outside the territory of the Republic of Serbia or has traveled abroad for a stay longer than one year, is obliged to report to the competent diplomatic-consular mission for the purpose of registration in the military records.

With the entry into force of the Decision on the suspension of the obligation of military service, military service is carried out on a voluntary basis. Applications for voluntary military service are submitted through the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia (www.mod.gov.rs).

By registering in the military records at the diplomatic-consular mission of the Republic of Serbia, it shall be considered that the citizen of the Republic of Serbia has regulated the military obligation.

It can be done in two ways:


1. BY SENDING DOCUMENTS BY POST

You need to submit:

  • Completed form – questionnaire Military Obligors_Questionnaire SYDNEY – insert Word doc – fill in clearly, sign by hand – certify at a Justice of the Peace (JP)

  • Proof of Serbian citizenship (ID card or passport of the Republic of Serbia) – certify at a Justice of the Peace (JP)

  • Proof of regulated stay in Australia/NZ (Australian/NZ passport or visa copy, Australian/NZ citizenship) – certify at a Justice of the Peace (JP)

  • If you have a copy of a summons from the Recruitment Centre of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia or a summons from the misdemeanor court

ALL documents must be certified by a Justice of the Peace (JP)


2. IN PERSON

You need to bring:

  • Completed form – questionnaire Military Obligors_Questionnaire SYDNEY – insert Word doc – fill in clearly, sign by hand – can also be filled in and signed at the consulate

  • Proof of Serbian citizenship (ID card or passport of the Republic of Serbia)

  • Proof of regulated stay in Australia/NZ (Australian/NZ passport or visa copy, Australian/NZ citizenship)

  • If you have a summons from the Recruitment Centre of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia or a summons from the misdemeanor court


In BOTH cases it is necessary that you FIRST send ALL documents to the emails of the consulate:

After checking the correctness and completeness of the documents, we will contact you regarding the appointment for your personal visit to the consulate premises to carry out the consular service or for sending documents by post.


Administrative consular fee

Payment in the amount of $7.00 AUD should be made by bank transfer to the account of the consulate:

  • Account name: Consulate General of the Republic of Serbia – consular fees

Please indicate your name and surname as payment reference.


Note:
Please keep in mind that certain banks charge for payment transaction services (especially if the payment is made outside of Australia, e.g. New Zealand). Payment of these services is not included in the consular fee amount.

Requests that are not accompanied by the consular fee payment in the exact amount will not be accepted.
